In a foul play that may have led to the accident, three nuts of the railway bridge constructed over the Subarnarekha River on the Hatia-Rourkela railway section were found to be missing.
An FIR has been registered by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at the Dhurwa Police Station in this regard. The RPF said in the FIR that it was a conspiracy and it could have led to the train accident.
Dhurwa police station officer Vimal Nandan confirmed the FIR but ruled out any conspiracy.
“The information was filed on Friday evening. The primary investigation does not indicate any conspiracy. However, a final statement may be given once the investigation is complete,” the report said
The Hatia-Rourkela section is an Indian railway line connecting Hatia on the Netaji S.C.Bose Gomoh-Hatia line in Jharkhand with Rourkela on the Tatanagar-Bilaspur section in Odisha. It is a 165-kilometer track. It is under the jurisdiction of the South Eastern Railway.
